FAQ

Can you tell me more about your group?

Our primary purpose is to teach and help train others to become Priests and Pristesses of the Lady and Lord of the Wicca (also commonly referred to as the Goddess and the Horned God), regardless of whether they choose to form their own coven in the future.  We do have a degree system, however, our degree system is NOT intended for hierarchy or ego, but to help us organize what we have to offer in terms of teaching, create opportunities for those who work with us to experience the Mysteries and personal change, and to honor milestones of spiritual passage and growth.  All LGBT persons are welcome.  And while we have chosen not to have children ourselves we honor family commitments, understand the importance of relationships and family obligations and are very willing to try and accommodate these.

How often do you meet?

We honor all moons and Sabbats, however, this is not expected of new members.  With new members, we would like to spend a hew hours per week having dinner together and discussing aspects of Wicca in general.  This gives you a chance to learn more about us and we learn more about you in an informal and conversational setting.  You would also be welcome to circle with us for the following Sabbats:  Ostara, Litha, Mabon and Yule.

Esbats and the other Sabbats we reserve for those who would like to continue on with us in a more committed Neophyte and Initiate capacity.  New Moons are reserved as teaching circles for our Neophytes and for healing magic. Full Moons are reserved for the Initiates and is where a lot of the magical heavy lifting is done.  The other Sabbat circles are for Neophytes and Initiates, since these circles are more specific to the coven and to the Lady and Lord of the Wicca .  Also, while They are central to 90% of what we do, we also welcome and encourage personal connections and relationships with other deities.

Where do you meet?

We meet at our home in Somerville, MA and when weather permits, outdoors.  We are accessible via the MBTA and have plenty of free parking.  We also have a cat, so pet allergies would be good to know about so we can make other arrangements if necessary.

How can I become part of SilverWood?

The first step is to e-mail us at silverwoodcoven@gmail.com; we will have some questions for you to consider and answer via e-mail and we are certainly happy to answer any questions you may have about us as well.  If that goes well, then we can make arrangements to meet in-person at a local cafe.
